This Wednesday, wordpress.org announced the first release candidate for the upcoming 4.0 version. It means that very soon (approximately next week) we will get the major 4.0 release of this powerful platform.
In our previous post about WordPress 4.0 Beta 2 we described the main changes and improvements which were made in this version. And now you have the opportunity to test the Release Candidate and make your opinion.
Basically, WordPress 4.0 focuses on a few specific aspects, aiming to improve the overall interface and user experience:
- Better post editing;
- New intuitive plugin installation interface;
- Media Library grid view;
- Language selection option;
- The ability to embed content from URLs directly into the visual editor.
As Helen Hou-Sandi wrote in her message to all WP users,“We hope to ship WordPress 4.0 next week, but we need your help to get there. If you haven’t tested 4.0 yet, there’s no time like the present”, so you can download the Release Candidate as well as WordpRess Beta Tester on a test site (don’t use it on a production site) and evaluate all the new features of this version.
WordPress 4.0 is around the corner, so we need just to wait a little and welcome the new release in a week.
